I've been trying to stay out of this because the outcome really doesnt matter to me, but I'm really tired of this topic.
I think this speaks for itself... "Season 27"
If the admins don't want it, it's not happening. Beating a dead horse is just getting annoying. I wanna see sims, not a bunch of babies crying. Give it up man!

"Season 27" If the admins don't want it, it's not happening. Beating a dead horse is just getting annoying. I wanna see sims, not a bunch of babies crying. Give it up man! a) from someone who clearly holds beef with me over other stuff b) from someone who clearly has not read the thread, where most people actually want this in some form (and the non-Quinn admin is also cool with it). But whatever. If this site is happy with letting the same 3 people eat up all the auctions every SINGLE time, and shit on people when they suggest stuff, go nuts. I am done with this nonsense. It's clear Quinn (and his posse) tells you how to take it in the ass, and you willingly comply, so I'm done trying to get people the change they keep asking for here. Basically a respected staff member made a suggestion, people liked it, I volunteered to do the extra work then because I said something, everyone turned it into a debacle and people started creating problems. Sorry Kings. I tried. You can't do anything except suck Quinn-dick on this site. If Quinn doesn't blow a wad over your suggestion, it dies upon arrival.

Old beef? Not at all. I could care less about the "other stuff". I also didn't say it was a bad idea, i just don't think it's a ground breaking idea. It could go either way, and I really wouln't care.
I'm just tired of reading the same back and forth battle, when clearly, the ones who would/could implement it, have no interest.

Ground breaking ideas on this site get shot down from above.
This one had a chance because a) it was simple as fuck and b) it was not suggested by me.
I think when someone who is a staff member suggests something that people like, it should not be ignored. That is why I kept bringing this topic to admin attention.
It also doesn't affect me, as I don;t do auctions, but I think if people want something, it's a dick-move to ignore it, then to start talking about how we should move on. Especially if you don;t care, when clearly many others DO care.

Wow. So a suggestion is made, everyone likes the idea and starts trying to flesh it out, at least two people offered to help on it. Then people (the minority who don't like it) start shitting on it because one admin doesn't care for it. Then people (the majority who like it and are trying to make it work) start saying why it might be difficult, others offer resolutions to these theoretical problems...
I volunteer to lose my team to become the auctions manager.
I would take over auctions, and not have a team, and then no one can fuck around.
Secondly, those saying someone can delete a pm... you do realize you all have an outbox right? You can publicly show your damn pms you sent... not that complicated.
I will probably now be blasted with hypothetical reasons as to why I am wrong and can be corrupt...

Personally I like the way auctions are right now but if people want to try something new then I'm down for that too.

The majority of the conversations on sites, I never ever look at. I don't have the time to go over every thing

No one has asked you to do so.
I'm willing to forfeit my team to run this as the Auctions Manager.

I'm pretty meh on this. I don't mind the current system, don't care if we try the new one.

My only issue is that the auctions would get weaker and weaker as I don't think anybody would be bidding. But we can try. I don't think anybody needs to forfeit a team though to get this done.

You know, instead of doing a complete overhaul of the auction system and making someone quit as a GM, etc., since one/both of Yotes/myself are always around when the auctions end, someone can always PM their bid to one of us and we can post it on their behalf in the last seconds, as we each have done many times before...

The reason why your suggestion is why it is flawed and would remain flawed and doesn't address how it is flawed is that teams want an opportunity to blindly bid on someone. You seeing those bids is what keeps everything flawed. What we want is for someone to manage it who will NEVER place a bid on auctioned players and thus make it as fair as possible. So unless you're telling everyone you plan on never bidding on another auctioned player again, the flaw remains, and there still is no resolution. Hence me volunteering.
That said, I can keep my team and never be eligible to partake in auctions. Canes has volunteered to do the same.
What do you guys think?

Alright... Fuck... lol I was trying to steer clear of this one, cuz this has given me problems in the past... BUT... Something does need to change with the auctions. The snaking at the auction deadlines for starters has gotta change... Yah I brought back my old term for it; don't like it? Tough. Fact is that I've had to take the "if you can't beat'em, join'em" mentality on this one; Doesn't mean I agree with it.
And yes, maybe the value of certain players may go down a little, but by enlarge, more teams that don't have a shot at these types of players, in the current format, would have a shot at obtaining them with a silent auction. I've been a "have" team and a "have not" team in this league. And even as a "have" team right now, it'd be nice to see a "have not" team pull one out of their ass for a change.
I see most of you having a big problem with the silent auction because the GM doing it would know more that you do... How's that different than what we have now? Pens currently makes the decision on who wins the auctions, and he can... and has, puts in his own bid, at the deadline, that beats the bid that's winning... but it's ok, cuz it's Pens, right?!
So, you're against a different senario that allows EVERYONE a better opportunity to get these players more readily, but you're ok with the current system that keeps the top teams at the top and the bottom teams at the bottom? Interesting. This league has lasted, granted... but I see no progression. Just being honest.
