the biggest thing is to do what you can to get acouple 85's. You can turn those 85's into 87's in auctions. I usually build an 83 or 84 into an 87-88 every year. As soon as I get 8 of them, I trade acouple away to teams that are making an effort but don'tr have the time I have and then I do it all over again. You make it sound like it's super easy to deal with the auctions, and it's not for teams that don't have anything better than an 83-84. Hell, I still have a hard time winning any auctions. Especially when you have guys waiting right until the deadline to post their bids. I've done it on occasion myself aswell because I've really wanted a player. (ie. Larmer) I've also lost auctions that fellas have done the same to me on. But also number of times that I've been in there, and I'd have to make an overpay bid to get a player are too many to count, and 9 times out of 10, it's not worth it for me. So I can only imagine it's worse for teams that don't have the assets.

2 seasons ago I ended up turning two 75s I got in the bonus rounds into a an 82 who I traded for a 1st round pick and another 82. The auctions, when done right, help immensely.

@jmcook - You are obsessive over this power trip thing. I think it has to do with problems in your personal life that you have no control over. So controlling things on a sim site makes you feel empowered. This is not an insult, just something I have observed over time, and think it is fascinating. Wynne - Retired Flyers GM - I see you still love the taste of admin penis, as has always been the case. Kinda figured you'd grow out of that one after 4 years, but alas, some things never change. You've still got a bit on your chin there. @detroit - do your research - I offered to literally drop the rating of every single player on my team by 10 overalls to avoid losing any of them. I build teams I like, not teams with talent. I really found this funny. Becuase I am on a disabilty you assume I have no control over my life. LOL. I have people coming to me begging and pleading with me to set up their finances and lives. You won't find anybody with more control of their lives. I made this site becuase I was sick of changing every other year with other sites. When you build something you would like to have the chance to see it play out. With changing the site every other year, you might as well just go on the game and keep doing drafts if that is what entertains you. We are fine with what we have at this point

I don't really consider that. I am pretty sure that was the auction that like no one bid on anything. I think it was around christmas or something like that.

Yeah thing with auctions is that sometimes there's a lot of activity so it's impossible to win anything of value while other times you'll have like 5 people bidding on players. As long as you take advantage of low activity weeks, you can boost your team up significantly. You obviously gotta be active though and have the time to be active. What you put into your team is what you'll get out of it

lol at least we can say that this site brought up some potential English Majors. God damn you guys write well. lol LOL. It's pretty funny. My English seems to change drastically as well when I'm involved in a heavy debate or writing large paragraphs. My inner essay-side comes out of nowhere. And late reply on this, but as somebody who just joined a few seasons ago, I like the league as it is. I didn't start off with a great team, and to be honest, I made it worse than what it originally was. But the reason for that was my low activity on this league for the first 2 seasons. I never took part in auctions, predictor, I would post my keepers list during the draft every season without putting actual thought into who I was losing and/or keeping. After this past summer, I got more involved. I took part in auctions to upgrade my team when possible, I am doing predictor now (got a bonus 3rd round pick in the draft that just passed), and I looked through who I would lose in the draft and who I had a chance to snag at my spots. And after doing this for the past 3 seasons or so, I've seen improvements in my team. A challenge is nice. I don't necessarily worry about getting an Ovehckin or Crosby because Yotes has created a league where bottom feeders still have opportunities to improve their team. And I've been a bottom feeder for most of my time on this league and after being more active, I've been able to create a team that is at least capable of making the playoffs (this past season). They're doing even better this season. Just my 2 cents from a "have-not" in the league. It isn't so bad.
