I think the leagues reached a point where everyone will be just keeping their top 8 constantly, and we should have something to change things up.
Either that be a huge restart, a fantasy draft, whatever, just something.
I was opposed to it before, but now I'm for it.
I don't see myself trading any of Gretzky, Sundin, Mogilny, Roberts, Stamkos etc, and its getting to the point where I haven't traded my picks in 3 or more seasons, something I used to always do.
If we do have a giant restart, I believe we should take out the majority or all the legends just to keep things fresh again. Possibly add in legends of euro players that were great in the past seasons here. Petrov, Morozov, Ohman, Karalehti, Brendl, Weindhandl, etc.
Obviously, not this season, but its something to think about with NHL 13 around the corner.

Hate to contradict myself, but I don't think a large draft is the answer as well. From my past experience started a league off with a fantasy draft doesn't work because noone will want to trade, they all have the mindset that they drafted the best team, so why make a move

If we were to do anything, I think it would have to be a complete re-start. Same format, just modern day teams to start with. Legends can start entering again at season 6 and every two seasons after that too avoid over crowding.

I love the fantasy draft idea, but it takes so long. I think this has become more of chat site that has simming and everything in it. If everybody wanted to, I would definitly be in for it though.

Im for a complete reboot when 13 come out. Start with the players that are on the real teams and then trade away. Perhaps its time for a vote to see what everyone thinks. Its not fair that we dont do this because a couple of teams dont want a challenge.

Meh, i wouldn't wanna risk it lol. No point fixing something that's not broken. but it is broken. we are the point that some potential GM's have turned down teams because they have been butchered. I coule leave this site for a 6 months and come back and most teams still have all the same players. Lets do a 25th anniversary restart and start again. What are you afraid of?

Sharks opinion doesn't count because no one even wants him in the league, we can even relive the classic ban sharks
In all seriousness though, I'm not sure I'd want to start off with the original rosters, I've already rebuilt two rosters entirely, not sure I'd have time for a third especially with university now starting for me.

might amke it a little more difficult for some of us. I work 40 hrs a week and so does bruins. We both kids and families to take care of but im still on here alot. id be on a lot more if i thought we people would be trading and actually doing things. I agree with yotes. Its more of a chatroom now.
Perhaps another option would be to have everyone keep their team names but have yotes do an auto fantasy draft. that way you wont have your original team but you will still have good players to use to trade. idk whats best for sure but i do know if things keep going the way they are then people will start to leave.

I'd be fully against any type of fantasy draft. I think it's time to bring life back to the league, but I don't like the fantasy draft idea. I'm all for starting over, using rosters from real life, but you don't have to keep your team. We can have a team re-pick type thing, with the GMs who have the most seniority picking their teams first, and so on.

or use what goon is doing.... do a random team draw. Or the most seniority works too.
