What phone/company?
Phone: Galaxy S3: Love it. Solid phone. Does everything I need.
Company: Fido: New customer. No complaints thus far. However, cell companies are all a scam.

LG C555 - it's the perfect phone for me, but it has technical problems, and they don't make it anymore Koodo - not a scam company. Love Koodo. You know what you are paying, what you will owe, and no termination fees ever.

I've got a GS3 as well. Only thing I can complain about it is the battery life, which seems worse for my S3 compared to my buddies. It used to be fine, then just started draining faster than usual and I use the most efficient method recommended to charge it. Just weird. But otherwise, a beauty of a phone. Never ran into any other issues.
Edit: Oh yeah, I am with Telus. Good service provider.

It's better for kids to not have cell phones. My 5 year old doesn't have one either, so you're not alone, Flames. (She is really efficient on a Playbook though....)

It's asinine to have a cell for an 8 year old. Who the hell are they calling? It's not just bullshit, it's downright fucking dangerous. I hope they have a shit load of restrictions, and monitoring on that.

The current generation is ridiculous. I know somebody who got his 6 year old son an iPad for Christmas. Fucking insane. With these kids the argument is always his/her friend have something, so they want it too. Even worse is the parents who buy their kids all the tech at an early age. It starts with them.

Is that really as bad as buying a 6 year old a N64?

It all depends on the set up. My 5 year old is very good on devices but we ration her time on them, control what she has access to and what she uses it for, and make sure she knows how not to ruin it type thing. With all kids and all things they have, if you know your kid, monitor what they are doing, and be totally aware of it all, you are probably fine. Having their own iPad, phone, etc is just crazy to me though. Using your parents securely is one thing, having their own doesn;t make sense.

Gaming systems like N64 is different. With tablets/phones it is more than just games. You teach them to have technology do things for you, rather than the old fashioned way like we did when we were younger. I believe in the whole "technology is making society dumber" argument because they just make our lives easier and while there are benefits to it, making kids at an early age rely on technology isn't right and they should be growing up and learning things through practical means. Learn by doing.

Agreed when I was younger I never understood why my parents wouldn't get me something that most kids did have (like a cellphone) now that I'm older I understand that they are only protecting me from the harm that they could do to you (not physically but mentally). No offence to anybody but this is why Indians and Chinese people are so smart, it's because their parents don't get them phones and stuff like that until they are like 16.
