suggestion - fantasy draft?

The poll is just to get an idea of who would be interested in SOME kind of draft, doesn't necessarily need to be what I've posted.

I know it's a long shot, but the idea of a league wide one time fantasy draft interests me, and I'm sure others as well.

By fantasy draft I mean a one time draft where every player is free game, nobody gets a keeper and the draft is 26-30 rounds long. Every team gets revamped.

The order can be random, can be based on longevity to the league, most points/wins all time, or least, anything really. Not super important. - Hell maybe we can auto draft it and generate mass-trade activity.

Just the idea is interesting to me. I, like most, like to keep certain players and will likely never trade them, no incentive. You're never gonna get Stevens or Kovalchuk from my team, Penguins will never trade you Crosby, Nucks will never trade you Bure, Isles with Mogilny.(These aren't to single anyone out, just players I've come to realize will never be a Devil(again for some).) But after awhile it gets kinda boring, I would like to do it just for me, but then I'd need to trade with teams that are reluctant to deal and it would be a pain in the ass.

I suggest it for when we switch to a new game so that it isn't an increase in work for JM and we have time between transition to the new game for the draft.

This isn't meant to do anything to the league. The activity here is good, parity is fine.
This is something I've wanted to do for awhile, I've suggested similar ideas before, had some support and some not.
I know the league is great as is and would be fine with that, but the idea of a big fantasy draft always interests me, I'm sure others too.

Ideally if there is a majority we can take it to the next step.
Fantasy drafts are fun and if any league can do it and continue its success it's this one, easily.

I don't really expect it to happen, but if there is a majority what vote yes it should be something to look at further. Whether or not Pens says yes or no, a majority should have SOME say.., I'd hope at least.

I like the idea. I've only been here for about 5 seasons which isn't nearly enough as others but when you have the same team, season after season it does get boring. It's also difficult to make major trades because some GM's are so reluctant to move certain players. Now I get that brings back the keeper discussion (which it seems has been argued over for a while now), but a change like this once would be nice. I know that could also be a little biased coming from me because my team isn't the greatest so this could be in my favor, but then again I don't mind the way it is now. I'm still in the process of building a team I want and wouldn't mind continuing with that either. The main problem from some GM's with this is going to be that they spent too long building the team they have now to just throw it away. Everyone's goal is to win the cup, I get that. But part of what is so great about sim leagues is being given a team and turning it into the one you want. There are going to be other issues too (Pens quitting, etc.) but I support this.

Could this be something we put together separately from this league? I'd be interested in that.

Was actually thinking the same thing. What if there was a second league using the same players (if this is possible by using the roster file or something) and yeah I even like the concept of the auto-fantasy draft too.

Would Cook be down for another?

I voted yes but only if we keep it here on this site. I have become extremely busy over the last few months and it is going to continue for the majority of this year as well. I will not have the time to keep up two teams.

Also, for the record, I am 100% o.k. keeping the rosters as is. If people wanted a Fantasy Draft I`m in and if not, I`m still in.

If there was a seperate league and Yotes would be interested in simming I'd be interested.

If it came at the cost of this league though, I'd rather not.

Sure, I'd rather not have another side-league though. One's enough for me. I doubt we'd fill the side league as well.


Also think we should give this a few seasons warning - Give people a few years to build something, to go all in before we do this.

You guys want this as a seperate league. Start setting it up. I am in for it. But I want you guys in it. I think this would bring the twist everybody wants but allows us to keep this league. As long as people aren't quiting here to play that one. This league will always come first for me. But Yes. I am in

I like this idea. Gives everyone a fresh new league to join as an alternative to this one, without this one having to die as a result. And those of you constantly bitching about having no starpower could go get some and build your teams exactly how you want from the start.
