As we are about to past our Season 30 Trade Deadline, most of us realize the time of here this season is concluding and the importance in brings to our league. If you are not sure what I’m referring too, NHL 14 is around the corner. The official release date is September 10th and JM and I both plan on getting copies on the said launch date. Knowing where we are in the current season, it once again puts us in an awkward state. We all know how quickly we go through seasons here. Last season the season was finished two weeks after the deadline. That projects us to finish before the end of the month. Another issue is that I will be busy every night the very first week of September, so our goal is too quickly hold the draft right after the season in August, likely the 31st. That leaves us just under two weeks before our transition to NHL 14. This leaves us with three options. Start immediately after with another season of NHL 13. Do nothing and wait until NHL 14. Hold a division tournament during the little span. We all know how far we are into this league, which means editing and creating players along with modifying rosters will be very time consuming. This means it might not be done until duration of time if we were to wait until NHL 14 for Season 31. The benefit of starting right away with NHL 13 would be a short offseason. A flaw with this is the upcoming draft will lose its uniqueness of predicting the overalls of players before the new game. With a division tournament, it may or may not seem rushed as everything is crammed together. These are all things to keep in mind while voting. My personal preference would be to hold a division tournament while we wait, but Pens and I have decided to leave it up to you. We hope to make this off season much more enjoyable then our previous as we wait for the excitement of NHL 14.

I vote for whatever is easiest for JM. If he wants a break, we can entertain ourselves for the week and a bit the simming would be down. We can take our time with the draft and offseason, etc.
If he would rather pop out another season and finish that while concurrently updating NHL 14 rosters, that might be a good way to fill that time-hole as well. Finish simming 1 season while setting up some core rosters on the other (creating players and such). That might also make that transition more stress free.
Whatever jmcook wants, I vote for. We're easy to please and we'll be happy regardless, I am sure.

I will make the playoffs take alittle longer then normal and I am sure we won't have too much of a break from between seasons

In the meantime, we'll have to come up with some games.. maybe host a few fantasy hockey pools? Are they open yet?
Or.. maybe even host one on here or somethin'.

I'm willing to throw up a little pool if people here are interested, obviously there wouldn't be a money prize though. We could have something like 9 forwards, 4 D 2 Goalies for 15 rounds? Would be better if we could do it live quickly though with someone sending in a list.
But the first week of september is a bad time for me to be running anything because of Oweek

I vote just to wait for '14. This way we still get to do the draft without knowing too many of the player ratings in the new release and it adds that extra element of surprise.
To be honest, I don't even think a division tournament is necessary. I am sure we can all get by for a week or two after the playoffs are done to get back to the simming and this gives JM time to take a break if he wants also.

Fair enough, when JM and I were discussing this awhile back, it seemed we would be done by now for whatever reason leaving a month of nothingness, which we didn't want. When I posted this I kind of realized a week and a bit isn't that much time. But we could still accommodate a division tournament if need be.

We have decided to move forward with NHL 14, with no division tournament.
