Hockeyfan101 – Penguins GM. Leader. Influential. Legend.
The man who started it all. We owe a lot of thanks to him for not only starting this league, but bringing an online community together. This league has reached a level that is unheard of in sim league history and a large amount of credit is owed to Hockeyfan. He was the commissioner of this league for 29 seasons, 5 years real time. He brought a large amount of respect to this league that others have dreamed of achieving. We've seen a lot of faces come and go throughout the years here, but it’s clear he will be leaving the biggest void.
Hockeyfan had one of the greatest teams in sim league history. He built his core around center iceman Sidney Crosby who never left the GM’s side. He went on to trade a large amount for Ilya Kovalchuk who showed instant chemistry with Crosby becoming one of the best duos in the league for over 10 seasons. Hockeyfan then managed to acquire Alex Ovechkin and paired the two rivals for the first time creating another deadly combo. Playing in arguably the strongest division in this league, the Penguins captured 7 President Trophies and captured their first Stanley Cup in Season 10. They continued to be a powerhouse and went on to capture 2 more cups in Season 22 and 27.
Talking about the actual roster Quinn held is extremely irrelevant to sum up what he has accomplished and done for this league. He worked countless behind-the-scenes hours that went unnoticed. He generated many new controversially concepts and backed them up until the end, which ultimately has lead us to the point we are at today. To imagine that without Quinn, this league would not exist as today is mind-boggling. He affected the entire sim league culture with his leadership and creativity.
We wish the best for your future endeavors. Congratulations on becoming the biggest legend in sim league history. I speak for all of us when I say it’s been an honour to be a part of this great league and we hope to keep its legacy alive for years to come. The doors will always be open for you here. You will be greatly missed.
