New Leafs BAGM

So since I won a cup with the Avs, I decided to start a new Maple Leafs one and keep it as realistic as I could.

The Story

So Brian Burke stepped down as the GM of the Leafs and offered it to Dave Nonis, Nonis gave Burke the finger and went to be the GM of the New Jersey Devils (Lou stepped down ) I was the best candidate so I got hired.

Brian Burke calls me and tells me he wants 39 wins this season and wants to secure some top notch talent at the draft.

Me and my scout watch the CHL Prospects game and find 5 players we would like to target;

RW Josh Cowen (5th/6th Round)
RW Spencer Edwards (1st/2nd Round)
C Cam Braes (4th Round)

I decide to shop around Mikhail Grabovski, Brett Lebda and JS Giguere.

We finish the pre-season 1-2-1 and the Boss tells me he won't be angry if we miss the playoffs.

We lose our opener 3-2 vs MTL..... Great.

October: 5-5-0... 11th in East. Gustavssons turn to Start.

November: 13-10-0... 9th in East. Time to showcase Giguere.

I claim Cory Schneider off of waivers and make him the AHL starter.

December: 21-14-1... 8th in East. Jiggy can stay in, for now.

I Trade Colby Armstrong to Washington for Eric Fehr, to dump a bit of cap.

Heading into the all-star break we are 30-16-3

So currently we are 30-16-3 and sit 5th in the East, 7 points away from the 9th place Carolina.

J.S Giguere will continue to be our starter as he has the best numbers. (17-9 2.92GAA.. 90.9SV%)

Heading into the Trade Deadline, we have a record of 38-22-3 and sit 4th in the East (2nd in the NHL, 11 Points behind Boston. We are listiening to ALL offers, but we hope to add a veteran 4th Line C to our squad.

That's all I manage to do, and had to get O'Sullivan to get my 4th Line Center.

With 10 Games remaining we have 89 points but have lost Komisarek for 6 Weeks.

So we finish 0-6 but remain in 5th and we play Buffalo in the 1st Round. Brian Burke calls and says I did an amazing job this year.

We win our opener 3-2 vs Calgary.

At the end of October we are 7-3-1 and sit 5th in the East.

In November, we began to struggled and we finished 12-9-3, and fell to 9th

Heading into the New Year we are 19-14-4 and sit 9th in the East still.

We lose Filppula for 8 weeks Heading into the All-Star break we manage to be in the 8th spot in the East, with a record of 26-26-6.
