Not sure how the legends exactly come into the league, but I do have a suggestion.
It's becoming obvious that teams with plenty of high 80s/early 90s players are staying elite as they can continue to protect the best of the best while the draft simply consumes about three or four 84 rated players then drops off.
This leads the big teams to allow themselves to stay VERY good, while the weaker teams that don't have players (or very few) above 85 to stay in the middle to lower standings. All in all, the draft itself and first round picks don't really equal anything.
The only way a weaker team can get good is if they hoard a few high picks, get a few 84 players and try and trade them all for one really good player and most teams aren't exactly willing to downgrade.
My suggestion is why not allow those weaker teams with top 3 picks to draft a legend who is worth more than an 84 or 85 and can then start to build their team back to respectful figures?
It would make trading first round picks even more valuable and teams that are willing to give up a top 3 or top 5 pick would actually get a decent return because they know they're giving up a legend.
Just a though, figured it would be more beneficial for the league to actually have a constant flow of trades and make the draft more meaningful and give the bad teams hope thanks to the draft, just like the real NHL.

Honestly, It's not hard to take a weak team and make them competetive. If I've done it twice here, others should be able to aswell.

The only problem being the top teams would end up with those picks and get even better. The top teams don't always play well in this and bottom teams don't always play badly. There are alote of 82-85 players that I would rather have then the 90 players. Some of the stacked teams have yet to realize that having high rated players on your 2nd line doesn't mean anything. People have rebuilt teams into contenders in a matter of two seasons on here through auctions and trading. It is just too bad alote of the bottom teams don't take the time to use the auctions properly. The only way to stop people from having stacked teams is a Salary Cap league and obviously we aren't going that way now. We were going to one Legend every year for none playoff teams but atleast one stacked team every doesn't amke the playoffs and he ends up with that Legend.

I think my team sets a pretty good example, not saying its the best team out there, but for most of the 13 seasons we've had here at EA my team has been pretty well equipped with talent. And yet ive only made the play offs about 3 times, maybe im a bad GM, who knows, but it seems like chemistry is the most important thing to have on a team. I guess thats one thing my teams always missing

we were suppose to do something like that. But I don't think we have ever done it.

I think it's worthwhile, but it still won's help clubs that continuously fail to reach the playoffs and can't get a player worth more than an 83 on their team.

I agree we need to figure out a way to get better players on some of the bottom teams but those players will get plucked off there teams by the better teams anyway. That is how most of those teams got there. But don't forget Detroit is in contension every year and look at his roster.
