The back story;
Ray Shero has gone senile, almost pulling the trigger on a Crosby and Staal for Kessel and Kaberle trade before the owner put a stop to it, Shero is immediately removed from the GM position and in the owner's panic to find a new GM they hire me, a rookie GM. The team is definitely a contender and I only see one thing that needs to be done, acquire a top line winger.
I take over the team before the draft, my scouts and I all sit down at the prospects game to take a look, they suggest drafting the following players; RW Sebastien Trudeau RW Mathieu Populus RW Felix Bergeron LW Danny Gayle D Brody Luhning
I decide to put our first, Paul Martin and Evgeni Malkin (GASP) on the block, we needs wingers.
Draft day here we come.

So we hold the 20th overall pick. We make our first pick as no one wants to talk trades with me. I am pretty intimidating.
Benjamin Conz goes first overall to the Oilers.
I decide my scouts know nothing and take 6'4 defenseman Dustin Faith from the Kitchener Rangers.
I then make a huge trade, no doubt the biggest of the draft. Evgeni Malkin goes to the Blue Jackets in exchange for Rick Nash. How's that for my first trade?
I don't have a pick in the 2nd, so I draft Zack Kassian in the 3rd. Even though he should be Sabres property.
I offer Toronto Hutchinson and a 4th for Aulie, they say no because they'd have to make too many roster moves to get under the cap. Maybe I'll try for Gunnarsson.
We draft Defenseman Stefan Ulmer in the 4th round.
We trade Hutchinson, a 5th and a 6th for Gunnarsson, solid pickup. I then trade our 6th and 7th for Anaheim's 5th in order to draft left winger Tomas Hrcina.
That concludes our draft.
We let a bunch of guys walk, including Guerin and Mckee.
We sign all our draftees and offer extensions to Fedotenko and Ponikarovsky.
A few minor guys walk away so whatever lol.
I'm feeling kinda Kevin Lowe-ish so I send an offersheet to Setoguchi which wasn't matched. $10,860,000 over three years, compensation is my 1st and 3rd, meh.

So we go 4-0-0 in the preseason. 5-3 vs NYI, 5-4 against NJD, 2-1 against NYR and 4-1 againt PHI.
Lol, low expectations from the boss, happily surprised if I make the playoffs but not angry if I don't.
Well we finish 2010 with a record of 28-10-1 and 1st in the East, Tampa is in 2nd with 50 points and Montreal in 3rd with 38 points, the Canadiens wouldn't even be in the playoffs if it weren't for that leader of the division makes the playoffs crap.
We claimed Cory Schneider off waivers back in Novemeber, he's now the starter for WBS.
I'm gonna skip ahead to the trade deadline, there isn't much I want to do.
I trade Dupuis to New Jersey for Urbom and a 2nd. I trade Ryan Craig for Vancouver's 3rd. I then trade my 2nd to New Jersey for Vasyunov. I trade Talbot, Rupp and Carolina's 7th for Matt D'Agostini and Derek Dorsett.
That concludes our TD.
Some of the picks aren't for this year, so I'll list all the picks I have at the draft.
Team is now....
Kunitz (82) - Crosby (93) - Nash (89) Ponikarovsky (82) - Staal (85) - Setoguchi (83) Cooke (79) - Kennedy (79) - Dorsett (79) Sterling (74) - Fedotenko (78) - D'Agostini (77)
Orpik (83) - Michalek (84) Letang (82) - Martin (82) Gunnarsson (77) - Goligoski (79)
Fleury (89) Johnson (78)

We finish the season 48-30-4, good for the 2nd in the East behind Washington. We play Philly in the first round.
The first game is a big win for us, 4-1 at home to open the playoffs. D'Agostini, Nash, Poni and Crosby getting the goals.
The second game is a close one. Philly (well Gagne) scores two goals in the first period to take the 2-0 lead. We counter with 2 goals in the second (Kunitz and Cooke) to tie it up. The game goes to overtime where Philly wins 11 seconds in with a goal from Coburn.
The third game is another decisive win for us. 5-2 final with our goals coming from Staal (2) and Nash (3).
The fourth game is a bit closer. We open early with a powerplay marker from Crosby, only for Philly to counter with a goal less than 2 minutes later. 4 minutes after that we retake the lead with a goal from Setoguchi. Setoguchi scores again in the 2nd and we win 3-1 to take a 3-1 series lead.
We go into game 5 looking to end the series. we don't like Philly you know, so we want them out. Unfortunately for us, it doesn't work that way, Philly wins 4-2. Dorsett and Staal scores for us.
Game 6 is a huge clusterfuck. Goals everywhere. Oddly enough no one scores in the first. Michalek opens the scoring in the 2nd with a PPG, and Kennedy adds another goal 6 seconds after that. Setoguchi scores to take a 3-0 lead. However some no namer sparks the Flyers by scoring a goal right after Setoguchi's and then Carter scores right after that. 3-2 heading into the 3rd. Kunitz scores twice to seal the victory. Philly does score two more goals but we win it 5-4 to advance to the next round.
-------------------------
We play Carolina in the 2nd round.
We win the first game 3-2 but I went to bed early in my really big house in Pittsburgh and forgot to attend.
We win game two with a score of 5-4. Nash, Setoguchi, Crosby, Fedotenko and Sterling scored our goals. Good job guys. Flower, stop the fucking puck.
Fleury doesn't like my advice and decided to cost us game 3. Carolina scored twice in the first and we did fuck all. We decided that wasn't enough yet so we let them score another goal. Finally Crosby realized he was supposed to be playing and scored a goal. That's all for the 2nd, we come out in the 3rd and they score 2 more. Final score 5-1.
We let them open the scoring in game 4, Larose pots one 2 minutes into the 2nd. We respond with a goal from Setoguchi but some random scores again and it's done. 2-1 Carolina. Series is tied at 2.
Fleury fucks Carolina in the ass in game 5. Dorsett scores 4 minutes in on the PP (what the fuck is he doing there?) anyways we'll take it. Staal and Kennedy each pot one in the 2nd and we win 3-0.
Game 6 goes to OT. Carolina gets two goals from youngsters when Tlusty and Sutter score. Staal responds with two of his own to force overtime where fucking Tim Gleason scored on the powerplay. We're heading to game 7.
We head into game 7 determined to win. Fuck Carolina. Good old Poni opens the scoring. Ward must have been napping because any Pens fan will tell you Poni doesn't know how to play hockey let alone score. Nash scores a minute and a half later to give us the 2-0 lead. Staal and Nash score to open the 2nd and make it 4-0. Carolina fights back in the 3rd, coming up just short and we win 4-3.
-------------------------
We play none other than the caps in the ECF. Fuck you Ovechkin. I've always hated your yellow skate laces, your skate lace belt and your dumb tinted visor.
Well, we lose game 1 with a score of 5-4. Apparently they have Kariya and the fucker scored twice. Poni, Staal, Nash and Doresett scored for us.
We decided to stay consistent with scoring but decided giving up MORE goals would be a good idea. We lose 6-4 and it's a bunch of plugs scoring. Well Plugs + Staal.
Oh my good god. Fleury didn't even show up, so we were forced to play some Timbits goalie in net. (That's my story and I'm sticking to it). We lose 7-2. Good thing Crosby has done a lot this season. OH WAIT HE HASN'T DONE ANYTHING.
And we get swept. 4-1 is the score in game 4, still no sign of Crosby.
Draft in a few minutes.

Brodeurs, Roloson, Lidstrom, Holmstrom and Drury retired. Some other NHLers but those were the standouts. Larsson goes first overall to Buffalo. Puempel seconds to Ottawa. Couturier third to Nashville. San Jose nabbed Ryan Nugent-Hopkins at 6. San Jose offered me Marleau and Joslin for Staal, Johnson and Salmonsson. I passed. -No pick in the first round. -No pick in the second round. -I take Boone Jenner from the OSHAWA GENERALS (<3) with my thrid round pick. -I draft a goalie in the fourth round. K. Geissbuhler. -No pick in the fifth round. -I take B. Yadlowski in the 6th round. -And finally, S. Lof in the last round. Re-Signings and whatnot: Engelland sucks in my game, so I drop him, Brett Sterling and Steve Wagner to FA. -We re-sign Kennedy, Gunnarsson, D'Agostini, Vasyunov, N. Johnson, Jeffrey, Letestu, Haddad, Thiessen, and Curry. -Sign Jenner to an ELC. -I sign Michael Kirkpatrick to an ELC also. Some guy with a B- potential in the FA pool. Heading into my second season our lines are: Kunitz 82 - Crosby 93 - Nash 89 Ponikarovsky 82 - Staal 85 - Setoguchi 84 Cooke 80 - Kennedy 80 - Dorsett 79 Salmonsson 74 - Fedotenko 79 - D'Agostini 77
Orpik 84 - Michalek 84 Martin 82 - Letang 82 Goligoski 79 - Gunnarsson 79
