During the off-season Brian Burke stepped down as GM of the Toronto Maple Leafs but remained as team president. The Leafs then went on to hire me, Corey Eves as team GM.
Burke tells me I have no time to waste and that he's looking for 43 wins this upcoming season (really?)
My scout and I watched the CHL game and he suggested 5 players I should target;

LW Danny Gayle

LW Mikhail Sentyurin
I decide to shop ; Tomas Kaberle, JS Giguere and Jeff Finger at the draft.
It's now Draft Day... Yay!
Atlanta offers Jim Slater, Chris Thorburn and their 2010 1st for Tomas Kaberle and Jeff Finger. I counter, saying I want their 2011 pick and Andrew Ladd, They accept!
Detroit offers Patrick Eaves, Chris Minard and a 2010 2nd Round Pick for Carl Gunnarsson and Fredrik Sjostrom. (No Thanks)
Tampa Bay offers Teddy Purcell for Fredrik Sjostrom, I accept as it evens out my wingers.
Minny offers Andrew Brunette for Brett Lebda and Colton Orr (ummm No)
Pheonix offers Andrew Ebbett for John Mitchell (Nah, Mitchell has put up better numbers)
With the 62nd Overall Pick we select Kevin Smith, a d-man from Canada
With the 112th Overall Pick we select Cody Lindsay, a center from Canada
With the 122nd Overall Pick we select Ryan Button, a d-man from Canada
With the 144th Overall Pick we select Mikael Tam, a d-man from Quebec
With the 182nd Overall Pick we select PA Ouellet, a winger from Quebec
With the 208th Overall Pick we select Karl St-Laurent, a goalie from Canada

I sign Peter Forsberg to a 1 year 2 way deal, to mentor the kids in the AHL, and maybe play the fourth line if injuries hit.
Phil Oreskovic signs my qualifying offers.
I end the pre-season with a record of 2-2-0. (Not Bad, not bad)
