I think we as staff need to screen trades a little better then we have been lately. For those of you who haven't see it, Stars and I set out to prove this fact. First look at this trade www.eanhlsimulation.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=approvedtrades3&action=display&thread=19491&page=1To break it down, New Jersey gains 3 overalls in the deal, but it is made up for by a 2nd Round pick for a 3rd Round pick. Here is who accepted it (Not calling you guys out, just pointing similarities is all): Flyers Senators Penguins Now look at the deal Stars and I made (which for the record was staged, so don't assume this whole post is because my trade got rejected) www.eanhlsimulation.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=pendingtrades&action=display&thread=19493I gain 3 overalls in the deal, but offer a 2nd Round pick for a 3rd Round pick, yet ours is rejected by some of the same staff who accepted New Jerseys trade (Flyers and Penguins) Penguins even goes as far to say "Rejected, for obvious reasons." WHY THEN DID NEW JERSEYS GO THROUGH AND OURS GETS REJECTED. We don't seem to have a consistency of what goes through and what doesn't. I'm not here suggesting a rule change or staff change or any of that sort, just trying to point out that we need to actually break down trades a little better then we're doing and not letting certain trades slide.

Also not calling out anybody, just wanted to point that out, this isn't an attack at you New Jersey either, just at all of us in general, some of the trades that go through don't make sense to me.

Ahh I responded in the trade thread before I saw this. I can delete my comment and move the discussion here if people want. I take responsibility for just glancing at the NJ-NSH trade and accepting it because I misread the numbers.

Im think its because its more players in the deal and nashville got the 'best' player in the deal.

Fair enough, but that's where the consistency needs to be looked at, like Wild said. We always tell GMs whenever a dispute over a trade comes up that we go by the overalls, so if a trade with a 3 overall difference made up for by the same pick swap is accepted and another is rejected, how does that look to the other GMs?

There is no consistency issue here, I just misread the overalls in the trade (I thought they were even, and accepted, so I think others followed me on that). Sorry guys. I don't know why I did, but it was an error on my part, so if you guys wish I will reverse the NSH/NJ trade.

Reversing it now isn't fair to either NSH of NJ. Just leave that one and move on. It's safe to say all of us have accepted a bad deal, or rejected a good one and we just need to pay a bit more attention.
