it would still be aesy to out bid them but atleast they would have a chance. Islanders you built your team through auctions when nobody was playing the auction game

I wouldn't say that jackets. I got lucky enough that when i had a 83 and a 84 a different 84 and 85 were there and it kept going up, but I made trades to built my team after I got two stars.

Isles' best player when he started was Comrie, and mostly through auctions, he built his way up and got stars. It takes effort, a lot of it. When teams say they can't do it it just means they aren't willing to try hard enough.
And also, I don't need to remind anyone that our last two Cup Champions were 8th seeds, right? Teams on the bubble say that they can't compete with us, but look, they truly can.

I like the idea of changing it up, how about if we implement a 3 overall rule to go along with CBJ's idea? For example lets say someone bids a 86 on a player, If someone didnt have a 86 and wanted to make a bid worth taking in for account, his bid would have to be include a 83. This might still bring upon some issues, like for instance if the three highest bids were: 86,80 83,83 84,82
it would be hard to choose which one of these bids was the winner, so maybe we could let the staff members have a poll to see who wins it? It will require some extra work, just an idea.

It would probably go by poise of the top player yotes.

Any other method except highest player bid would cause massive confusion, as PHX noted. And when you think about it, there is really no possible tiebreaker we can use (except highest player bid, which would be completely redundant as that's our current format right now).

well I will just keep traded my top rated players to lower teams. I do better with 85's

I don't see what the problem is with trying this method it. Just seems to me the best teams want to keep the large separation from themselves with the weaker teams.

^^I already pointed out why this "stronger teams, weaker teams" thing doesn't fly.

Lets say you're bidding for a 95. Some guys bids a 94 while another person bids a 91 and an 85. Now how would you be able to tell which is more? Along with this people will always over bid and trade a whole lot of depth to upgrade. The current rule is much better and it does give the weaker teams a chance to go up. that 945 will eventually become an 85 and the weaker teams will be able to bid on them an upgrade to an 85. The following auctions they have to bid and upgrade to an 86 and they have to keep on going. This is also more realistic as it takes time for the weaker teams to develop into stronger ones in the real life NHL as well.

We've had this auction system forever, yet it's only been recently that a minute amount of teams have disputed it. I don't know why, I really don't.

Also, say there is a 94, and somebody bids a 93, why is it fair to that team, who as noted, worked to get the 93 player, get beat by 2 74s?

Just trying to come up with ways to help the bottom teams. It's a suggestion. We need to use this forum to come up with ideas. No problem if we don't use them. But we need to discuss some of these things as a league. Just something I had thought about as it gets frustrating waiting till the 5 or 6 auction to be able to get a player that matters while the bigger teams get 4 or 5 of them and we pick through there leftovers. It is also fun though to watch them get better but worse at the same time LOL

Lol Jackets.
Also, and this isn't a shot at Sabres, but it's usually him who is leading this charge to change up the auction system in some way, and pretty much the exact same system is used on your league. Just something to point out.
