How about we keep 5 players instead of the 8 keepers since this would actually allow the rebuilding teams to rebuild instead of adding maybe a second line player to their roster. I saw this years draft list and it looks pretty lame and if it werent for pittsuburghs donation of redden and vannenen then there wouldnt even be a 80+ defensemen in the draft. Take my team for example I have the 5th overall and by the time I get to draft a player I'll be left with a 79 defensemen or a 80 forward both of which wouldnt help me make the playoffs next year. You could argue that I could trade up but that would make me give up someone else which basically makes me get stuck in a lose-lose situation. If we kept the 5 players instead of the 8 then this would ensure that the stacked teams dont remain stacked forever and that the rebuilding would actually get a chance to make the playoffs the next year or the year after that. This would make the league more realistic since the good teams wouldnt remain good forever and the non playoff teams would be able to remain competitive.

I agree. But most teams haven't wanted to change. I think 6 would be good though. Teams would still only be giving up 5 players so the rest are keepers anyway

I agree with CBJ. Stacked teams like NJ, Pitts, Ducks, etc. would still be able to keep there top line and top pairing defense pair with 1 spare.

The draft class is getting better every year if you haven't noticed. Isles had a team with no one over 80 and built his club from auctions, not the draft. Try it, I've already said changing the format isn't an option. The only teams that want it changed are the teams 5 or lower in the draft, even though, if you didn't notice, you are getting better players than you gave up.

The draft will only get better each seaosn because of players entering the league, Legends, rookies, etc.

Draft is fine the way it is. Teams with lower rated players should continue to upgrade via the auctions and make some good draft picks. Not only that, but they should trade to improve their team.
