you always make polls for others to decide what you do eh? Graphics - PS3 Price- 360 in the shortrun, PS3 in the long run Gameplay Expiriance? - um... what do you mean by that? Controllers - personally I think Ps3 has better controlers, but people who have Ps3 say Ps3 have better controllers, people who have 360 will say 360 has better controllers. you get used to the controllers for any system you buy. Game Rights - Bout the same. I think Ps3 has more ps3 only games now... not too sure though

Built in WiFi $50.00+ Built in BluRay player $200+ Free online gameplay $8-$50 These are three things that a PS3 has and an X-Box 360 does not.
None of them are absolutely necessary, but thats quite a bit of extra money you would have to spend to get these things. X-box live is a killer $50 a year, bringing you to the same price as a PS3 for ONE year only.
Red ring of death.... thats pretty much all that needs to be said about that.
Graphics are noticeably better, not a huge difference though.
Controllers are lighter, do not require separate batteries/battery pack.
Not sure what you mean by game rights, but X-Box does have a better selection of "unique" games for it.

PS3 is coming out with more exclusives now, and they're unique (not just shooting games). The controller is recharge-able, they are also more durable. Both are fine but I'd go with a PS3 if you had a choice.

I like both, I own a 360, I would have to say that I PREFER playing NHL games on the 360, I played NHL for ps3 and Xbox 360 when it first came out for both systems... I was not used to eaither system, and I felt like I played better using the xbox 360, the dekes seemed easier to do, I know that sounds weird, but Its true, I could deke better, and do everything better when I was playing 360... PS3 is probably cheaper in the long run... having to pay for XBOX live every 12 months adds up... But I think It is totally worth it. If you buy a PS3, you can save yourself from getting your ass kicked by me online LOL all jokes aside.. I say get a 360.

I've got both, but I like XBOX a lot better. Might just be a preference, or because I am just used to it, but I love it.

Now I know that you said none of them are necessary but: You don't need the Wireless adapter, you can plug the 360 in to the modem/router, whatever vie ethernet cable, that's how I have mine hooked up. I doubt Cor, a 15 year old, would have any use for a BluRay player, BluRay are expensive and most people still buy DVDs which the Xbox plays perfectly fine. The PS3 is about $50 more than the 360, XBL is $60, so he spends about $10 on it, and the 360 does come with 3 free months of XBL. Also, The RROD is much, much less common on the newer models of the 360, and even if you do get it, I got mine back 4 days after I shipped it, they sent me back a brand new 360, with the 3 free months of XBL + a 1 month card. As you said, PS3 has the advantage in graphics. Controllers may be lighter, but really, does that matter? Sure you have to put in new batteries, but if he does get a job, after a while he can purchase the rechargeable battery packs. Yes I'm aware that it's an added cost, and if he thinks it's too much money, he could use rechargeable AA batteries. Once again, I agree with you on game rights.

I like xbox live more than Ps3's online play. Since we pay for it they manage to maintain it really well.

If you are close to your computer then PSN (PS3 online) is really good and there is like no difference from 360 online.
