Since we are looking at a long lay-off, I was thinking about putting together a team building competition for something to do while we wait. I was thinking about doing around 10 teams, but if there is more interest, I could expand and add more spots.
Myself, cranker and slasher were involved in on on Leafs Chat. I found it pretty fun, minus the fact it hasn't got to the simming part and some of the people involved weren't very committed to it, which is why I'd like to get 10 fully committed people for this one.
Basically, it's a serpentine draft that you build a team from. There would be 20 rounds in which you would draft 12 forwards, 6 defensemen, and 2 goaltenders, all of which need to be from the NHL. There is also a cap which you need to keep in mind when making this team. It would be what the real NHL is at, $64.3M, and you must draft a team that has a total salary under the league cap. Once teams are set, the teams are put together, and a sim is done using NHL 11.
There are also some other little twists we could add if we wanted to, including a small trading period.
