Just an idea, possibly making it so people get more involved.
Make it so you do not need to predict on every week. Last year was a good example, I accidentally missed one week and it cost me a (likely)pick.
That means that if you want that bonus you have to get good predictions and participate in every week posted.
Some people might by away a few days resulting in no participation for 2 weeks, after they come back it is near impossible to catch up for the top 5, what's the point of trying then?
There is about 20 weeks for predictor now, make it so you only need to predict on 15/20. You're allowed to miss a couple/few weeks.
OR
Monthly predictor winner.
October November December January February March/April
GM with the most points at the end of each month gets a bonus pick. Keeping what we have with the 1st-5th picks, the winner of the highest pick is the GM with the most collective points throughout the year.
A GM can only win ONE month.
I'm trying to think of the 6th place, maybe make it so there are two 5th rounders.
Just a couple ideas.

The first idea would be too hard as people may forget how many they have done and then the numbers would be skewed but I do like the 2nd idea. People would get more involved.

I like the idea of monthly winners. That way if we get a new manager he can still win a pick. The 1-5 picks would be decided buy overall Pts amongst the monthly winners

As someone who never really took part in the predictors (mainly because you had to do each and every week) I love the 2nd idea, of having to predict like 10 games each month, but have them matchups like Pens vs Devs, games like that, mainly because if you have Caps vs Devs, we all know who would win that game.
It would also be less "time-consuming" IMO and I would definitely part-take if we switched to monthly predictors.

Why don't we just put a monthly predictor up that only deals with 4 games/month? This means that there will be only 24ish games to predict per season.

Only 4 per month? That's not enough. IMO

OR, just the regular weekly predictors and break it up by months.

So every monthly winner wins a pick, and that pick is determined at the end of the year in order of who finishes the highest in the overall predictor standings?

Yup, that was my thinking.
Seems to be unanimously liked. The monthly thing.

kk, I'll try and work out a new system around it and we'll start using it next season.
