Okay, so in the off-season the Maple Leafs have fired their GM, I just stepped down from the GM of the Anaheim Ducks, and the Maple Leafs have offered me a 3 year deal, I, Brian Burke accept the deal.
The boss is expecting me to make a HUGE impact at the draft..... and get 36 WINS (hmmm maybe)
So me and my scout sit down and watch the prospects game, after the game he tells me that 5 players caught his eye:
C Randy Bonvie
D Pavel Sisoyev
C Owen Busenburg
C Vitali Nazarov
C Dmitri Zinovjev
I've Decided to shop JS Giguere, Fredrik Sjostrom and MIkhail Grabovski
So I get to the draft, we hold the 7th Overall Pick, too bad Cliff couldn't of gotten us into the top 5.
Pheonix Offers me Matt Watkins, Miroslav Satan, and Ray Whitney for Mike Komisarek, Jonas Frogren and Andre Deveaux (Close but Not Interested in Satan)
Islanders offer me Mark Streit and Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau for Mike KOmisarek and Jonas Frogren (To be Honest, I'd rather Komi than Striet)
With the 7th Overall Pick, we select, Teemu Ahonen, a defenseman from Finland
With the 37th Overall Pick, we select Tomas Kvasha, a small winger from the Czech
With the 67th Overall Pick, we select Rory Stillman a center from Canada
With the 97th Overall Pick, I draft a goalie from Finland, Vesa Koivisto
With the 127th Overall Pick, we select Brett Boos from Canada, and is a center

I then sign all of my rookies, and I'm off to JUly 1st.
I offer a contract to Tim Kennedy, and highly touted high-schooler Paul Reirden (d-man).
I sign Both, no more FA's I like so i'll sim up to August 15th and see what type of players of available.
Avalanche offers Derek Peltier for Kyle Rogers, (Sure I guess, maybe will help in the future)
I offer Jeff Finger to the Wild for Robbie Earl, the GM rejects but says he will counter offer after he meets with his staff (Goodie)
The Wild offer Robbie Earl to me for Mike Brown, (I accept)
(You think the Kessel deal was bad? The Sharks gave up a 1st and a 2nd for JF Jacques)
Waivers come into effect on October 1st. Time to set the line-up!

After October we finish with a record of 4-4-4, for 12 Points, That makes us sit 11th in the East, just 2 points out! (Yay!)
We don't improve during November, as we finish with a record of 10-11-4 for 24 points. We now sit 4 points out and sit in 11th (Still). We also lose Tyler Bozak for a month, so Rory Stillman will take his place.
We enter the new year with a record of 19-16-6 for a total of 44 points, and we sit in the 8th seed!
