That's right folks. The worst-kept secret ever is here now. EA NHL Simulation is going to become a no-cap sim league. It is simply impossible with NHL 09's limits to run a salary cap league past 2 or 3 seasons. After this season's rookie draft, myself and Detroit will be going through all the rosters adding player types to each roster and removing everything salary-related. The draft will also become a keeper-style draft, with each team being allowed to protect 5 players, one from each position (LW, C , RW, OD, and DD). All goaltenders will be automatically protected and will not be part of the drafts. The draft will become 5 rounds long with all these players, and you may wonder, what about the 2011 rookie picks? Well, since this season's will be the last rookie draft, these picks will become 3rd round picks in the new style of draft. So if you have traded yours already, once this season ends, you will only add a 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th to your draft picks page. Also, as with most no-cap leagues, free agency will be replaced with year-round UFA auctions, headlined by new legends from the past coming into play each season. The future is now folks. Any questions or concerns, please voice them for myself or Detroit here.

We should make it 6. 1 of your choice. Then the next highest at each position goes into the draft.

That's what I was going to ask, if we could protect 6 players.
1 LW 1 C 1 RW 1 OD 1 DD 1 Player of Your Choice

Fair enough, you may protect one player of choice too. 6 keepers, 5 go into draft.

not a fan of this, why do we have to give up all our players into a draft? We took time to build these teams, i have no interest in losing schenn, or phaneuf or weber to a damn draft after giving everything up to get these guys.

Maybe im missing something but if we get to keep 6 players and have only 5 rounds for the draft, how do we fill out the rest of our roster?

We get to keep 6 of our choice. The next highest rated players from each position go into the draft not your whole roster.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't want this to be like Spitty's, this league was unique because it was fastly simmed and cap, if we go cap there's no difference between this league and Spitty's! I'm not even sure I'll stick around if it's going to be no cap
