Unlike in season's past, this draft will be exactly like that of the NHL's. All 14 non-playoff teams will enter the lottery, and the team that wins the lottery (usually the 30th place team, but other teams HAVE won before) will move up 4 spots (maximum), meaning that although a team outside the top 5 can win the lottery, only the five lowest-finishing teams in the league are eligible for the first overall pick. As such, no team can drop more than one spot. Odds of winning the lottery and eligible teams are as follows:
