I was watching hockeycentral today and Doug Maclean said that NHL GMs rate their players with this scale 7-Franchise Player 6-Impact Player 5-Above Average Player 4-Average Player 3-Role Player 2-2 Way Player 1-Unwanted Player
I decided to rate the Leafs that way
Schenn-5 Phaneuf-6 Finger-3 Exelby-3 Komisarek-5 Sjostrom-4 Stempniak-4 Kaberle-6 Primeau-4 Hanson-2 Beauchemin-5 Ponikarovsky-4 Orr-3 Giguere-5 Gunnarsson-4 Rosehill-3 Mitchell-3 Kulemin-4 Bozak-4 Gustavsson-4 Wallin-3 Kessel-6 Grabovski-4
What would you change? What do you agree with?

I think Phaneuf and Kessel have become the Franchise Players, so either could go 7.

Maybe for the Leafs, but I don't think either of them are in the same category of what you normally think of as "franchise players". They're both young though, so that that could change.

I think Kessel is a complimentary impact player. As is Phaneuf for now. I can see Phaneuf being a franchise player, he has the potential, just needs to reach it. A franchise player is someone that can lead your team no matter what the supporting cast may be, ala Sundin. This is all my opinion of course, and I don't like the Leafs I think Gustavsson could be an above average goaltender in the league, its only his first year. Komisarek is not above average in anyway. Nor is Schenn, but again, he has the potential. Sjostrom is no more than a role player, same with Primeau. His prime is well behind him. Also wouldn't put Beauchemin as more than average. If they had that many above average-impact players, they would not be in the situation they would be in now. Edit: Pretty much what Ottawa said too.

Haha, I was watching this too
I would have Finger as a 4
Giguere is like a 5+ or a 6-
Poni is a 5
Sjstrom is a 3
Primeau is a 3

Schenn-4 Phaneuf-7 Kaberle-6 Giguere-6 Gustavsson-5 Kessel-7 You know with that many impact/franchise players, you would think that they would have more points than they do.

How the fuck did any of you not put Wallin at a 1, I know he plays for the Leafs but 0 goals is ridiculous
