So this is something new I'm going to try, saw it on another site and tought it was entertaining. I'm going to commentate a Be A GM mode. I will update it every couple of nights unless it starts getting lame (which is a very good possibility).
So after Burkes' terrible first season with the Leafs, the fans have run him out of town. Leafs management has hired myself to replace him. The fans aren't happy that such an inexperienced GM is taking over.
Let's get started.
Boss is looking for 35 wins this year, well we'll see, we definitly aren't getting 35 wins with a certain player who happens to wear the number 35 as our starter.
Would I like to play the Prospects game? I didn't think GMs could, I'll pass.
It's the NHL Entry draft and my scouts suggest I take;
LW Jarrod Perez
C Ethan Mcelhinney
LW Christopher Wilson
LW Josef Hrdina
C Andrei Kondratiev
Well let's start the draft. I'll take Chris Wilson to start the draft, 7th overall. Surprisingly no offers after the first round.
2nd round starts, we'll take Leonard Corson please. Still no offers, 3rd round starts I take the goalie, John Sloan. 4th round, who cares? I'll take Junior Drury, the D-man from the US. 5th round we'll take a center, Shane Wanvig from Kyrgyzstan.
We'll sign all our prospects I suppose.
Jason Blake, fuck you, bought out. Wallin? Fuck you too.
Free agents? No one good, let's see how the team does this year first.
Oh that's good. Boss isn't expecting playoffs.
Well that was disapointing, I decided to give Vesa a chance after all and we ended October 3-8-1, with many blowout losses, including a 6-0 loss to Pittsburgh. Vesa out, Jonas in.
Let's see if November is any better. We start Novemeber on a 5-game losing streak which helps improve our overall record to 11-12-2 at the end of Novemeber which puts us in 12th.
Weird that I still haven't gotten any offers yet, doesn't help that my only good players are Kaberle and Kessel.
FYI, apparently this years draft class is weak, I'll remember that. Schenn was injured? Ah well, he's back now.
In December we has a decent stretch of wins, including a win against Pittsburgh, we're now 17-21-3.
Happy New Year! It's now 2010, let's see if we can get those 35 wins. We're doing a lot better with Jonas in net.
Apparently the new year was good luck as we've finished January and are now above .500, good job team. We're sitting in 11th with a record of 26-25-5.
Finally an offer from someone...oooh it's Buffalo, they've got a few players I like, let's see. Montador for Rosehill? lol doubt it.
Trade deadline approaching, just fixed up my trade block.
Trade Deadline:
Florida with an offer, Komisarek and our 2nd for Olesz and a 3rd? Tempting, but no thanks.
Vancouver with an offer, Rosehill and Hollweg for Wellfed and Pope? No.
Chicago with an offer, Rosehill for Niemi? Deal I need some depth at goaltening, why the fuck does everyone want Rosie so bad?
Carolina with an offer, Orr for Walker? No deal.
Heading into March with almost the same team, only with the addition of Niemi, who is in the minors for now, until we can get Toskalol out of here.
We win a lot of our games by 1 or 2 goals, seems like we play solid D. We now have our 35 wins and we still have 5 games left.
We lost 4 of our 5 games in April, leaving us with a record of 36-39-7, could be better, but we achieved our goal of 35 wins.
The Marlies did make the Playoffs, I'll keep you updated.
That was fast, they were eliminated by Hamilton first round.
Stanley Cup Champions: Montreal Canadiens...lol
Calder Cup Champions: Texas Stars

Should I keep going or no?
